Audiologist

An audiologist has a clinic at the Health Centre twice a month. Referrals are made via the doctors.

Cervical Smears

Patients are encouraged to make appointments with the practice nurses for a smear but if there is a particular reason, appointments can be made with the doctors.

Child Health Clinic

Tuesday 1.00 - 3.00pm. A full childhood immunisation service is available as well as child health surveillance assessments. The health visitor is available at this clinic for general advice on family and child health - no appointment is necessary. Please do not bring your child to this clinic if they are ill.

Chronic Disease Clinics

The practice doctors and nurses run clinics to manage patients with asthma, high blood pressure, diabetes and heart disease. We aim to see all patients at these clinics at least annually.

Counsellor

An NHS counsellor visits the practice once a week. Patients will need to see a doctor for referral.

District/Community Nurses

District/community nurses provide nursing care to the household. They may be contacted on weekdays between 12.30 and 1.30pm on 01869 338855 - at other times an answerphone is connected to this number.

Family Planning

The doctors provide a full range of family planning. Please make a routine appointment with your doctor.

Health Visitors

Health visitors are part of the NHS Community Health Services. They are all qualified nurses with special training and experience in child health, health promotion and health education. They are there to listen to you and to help, advise and support you in all sorts of situations. A health visitor is available at the Child Health Clinic on Tuesdays 1.00 - 3.00pm and a drop-in clinic is held on Fridays 9.15 - 11.00am. All age groups can make use of this facility for help, advice and support. Alternatively, telephone 01869 338895 to speak to the health visitor.

Macmillan Nurses

A Macmillan Nurse works within the practice providing advice and support to patients and families. She may be contacted via Katherine House Hospice 01295 811866.

Maternity

Antenatal care is given by our doctors and the midwife. Appointments can be made with the doctors during normal surgery hours. Antenatal clinics run by the community midwife are held on Mondays (except Bank Holidays) from 1.30 - 4.45pm and Friday 2.00 - 4.45pm. Please telephone 01869 338611 for an appointment. The community midwife can be contacted on 01295 229456 between 9.00 - 10.00am any day. Alternatively you may prefer to see your own doctor for your antenatal care. Parentcraft classes are held at the Oxford Radcliffe Hospital tel: 01865 220458 and Horton General Hospital tel: 01295 229453. Please telephone to book.

Minor Surgery

Minor surgery is carried out at the surgery. Please make an appointment with the doctor.

Orthopaedic

An outpatient clinic is held at the health centre once a month. Referrals are made by your doctor.

Physiotherapy

An private physiotherapist holds clinics at the health centre each week. Any NHS physiotherapy is held at the Horton hospital referrals are made by your doctor.

Smoking Cessation Advice

A trained adviser is available to discuss maximising success in stopping smoking. Please telephone 01869 338611 and make an appointment.

Speech & Language Therapist

Clinics for children are held each Friday. The speech and language therapist can be contacted on Friday by ringing 01869 338611 or by ringing the district office any day on 01295 277550 where there is an out-of-hours answering machine. Adults with communication difficulties receive a service from the Horton Hospital (01295 229116).

Treatment Room

The practice nurses provide a wide range of services including health promotion, disease prevention, chronic disease management, dressing, immunisations, ear syringing etc which your doctor may advise. Please telephone 01869 338611 for an appointment.

Vaccinations

In addition to normal childhood vaccinations we provide a full range of adult vaccinations. If you are travelling abroad, please make an appointment to see a practice nurse as soon as possible, as certain vaccinations need to be started well before you are due to travel.
