Important Premises News

Deddington Health Centre was originally built to accommodate 7,500 patients and we currently have almost 11,000 patients. We are not able to extend the premises and have taken the decision with NHS England support to reconfigure our current space.

Our project will commence on Monday 6th November 2017 and will be completed in two phases. We had a small window to start and complete this project within the current NHS year and this means that the project will be completed by the end of March 2018.

These improvements will:

  • Improve patient waiting areas
  • Create more clinical rooms for GPs and Nurses (allowing to us to increase our team and appointment availability)
  • Ensure that we meet current Disability Discrimination Act compliance and make the entrances and toilet facilities more accessible for those with limited mobility

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause to our patients but ask for your patience and support as we improve the premises.

Phase 1 commences on Monday 6th November and this will affect the following areas:

  • Parking – this will be more limited as we need to accommodate contractor work areas within our car park.
  • Dispensary – the patient collection area will temporarily be accommodated in a cabin within the car park while the current Dispensary waiting area is extended. Please allow extra time and patience when collecting your prescriptions.
  • Reception – the main reception desk will be unavailable and a temporary reception will be accommodated within the main patient waiting area.
  • Corridor – the main corridor will be sectioned off to allow us to improve the toilets to meet current compliance.
  • Waiting space for appointments will be limited. Please try to come on your own to appointments when possible and not arrive too early .
  • During this period of works your GP may make more use of telephone triage to assess whether you need to come to the Health Centre to be seen.

Phase 2 (date to be confirmed) will affect the following areas:

  • Parking – this will be more limited as we need to accommodate contractor work areas within our car park.
  • Reception – the main reception desk will be relocated along with the main patient waiting area to allow us to create 4 new clinical rooms leading off the main patient waiting area. Waiting space for appointments will be limited.  Please try to come on your own to appointments when possible and not arrive too early.
  • GP and Nurse Rooms – you may see your clinician in a different room as we reconfigure some of the current rooms along the corridor.
  • Main entrance – a temporary entrance will be created at Dispensary as we improve outside access to meet current Disability Discrimination Act compliance and make the entrances and toilet facilities more accessible for those with limited mobility.
  • During this period of works your GP may make more use of telephone triage to assess whether you need to come to the Health Centre to be seen.

Throughout both phases of works there will be increased noise.  We apologise in advance for any noise disruption whilst you are consulting with your GP or nurse.
