Oxfordshire PCT was disbanded in early 2013 and has been replaced by Oxfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group (OCCG). For the purposes of commissioning health, Oxfordshire has been divided into 6 localities and Deddington Health Centre is within the North Oxfordshire Locality Group (NOLG).
The government White Paper (2010) set out the long term vision of the government for the management of the NHS. This will:
- put patients at the heart of the NHS
- focus on driving high quality and improving outcomes
- empower local organisations and professionals
- cut bureaucracy and improving efficiency
In order to shift decision-making as close as possible to patients, power and responsibility for commissioning services will be devolved to local consortia of GP practices. As such, from April 2013, there will be a comprehensive system of clinical commissioning consortia, supported by and accountable to a new independent NHS Commissioning Board.
On the Oxfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group website there is a page entitled ‘Your Local Area’ with a link to details about the North Oxon Locality Group. The chair of the North Locality is Dr Paul Park, a GP from Banbury. A GP from each surgery in the north attends the meetings of this group to help with the decision making.
