Information for patients living in Deddington regarding the new pharmacy
This information is only relevant to patients who live within one mile of the new pharmacy; it is business as usual for all other patients
I have heard a pharmacy has opened in Deddington. How does this affect me?
You do not need to do anything yet. This will only affect you if you live in Deddington within one mile of Hudson Street. We will be able to continue to dispense your medications until at least 8th October 2018*. We have requested an extension to this period and will let you know when we have more information. After this date, we will no longer be able to supply your medications due to NHS rules. We are able to continue to dispense medications to patients living outside of Deddington (more than one mile from the pharmacy)
How do I order my repeat prescription when I can no longer get my medication from you?
The same way as you do now; online using patient access, dropping your repeat sheet into the dispensary or by telephoning the repeat line.
Can you order my repeat prescription for me?
Yes. If you take a medication regularly we can automatically process your repeat request for you each month so that it will be ready for collection from the pharmacy of your choice. Ask any of the dispensary staff and we will set this up for you. We can not do this for medicines that you only take when needed such as some creams, inhalers and painkillers, you will need to request these as and when you require them.
Where will I get my medicines from when I am no longer able to get them from you?
You can use any pharmacy of your choice (we are a dispensary within a doctor’s practice and not a pharmacy so unfortunately you cannot choose to have your medicines dispensed by us after 8th October*).
How will my prescription get to the pharmacy?
If you choose to use the same pharmacy regularly we can electronically send your prescription to the pharmacy of your choice. For example, if you work away from Deddington it may be more convenient for you to collect your prescription from a pharmacy near to your place of work. If you shop regularly in a supermarket that also has a pharmacy, you may choose to have your prescription sent there.
If you do not wish to have your prescription sent electronically, you can collect the green prescription sheet from dispensary and take it to a pharmacy of your choice. Please note that the existing white repeat medication sheet that you are given with each bag of medication is only for ordering purposes. It does not work as a prescription.
Can I still use the Pharmaself out of hours dispensing machine?
Unfortunately, after 8th October* if you live in Deddington you will not be able to use this facility. All other patients will continue to have use of the Pharmaself.
*Note: until at least 8th October
